He grinned. The fact that being complimented seemed like a foreign concept to her was astonishing, simply because... Well, in all honesty, she was the most beautiful lioness he'd ever met, in all six years of his existence. And he was glad to have her in his pride. As he took in her expression, he had to fight back a smirk. She seemed a little flustered, but her response didn't give any hint to such feelings, as it was smooth and rather... flirtatious, if he could be so bold to presume it as so. "And here I am drinking in your every compliment without returning the favor.. You are are certainly not behind yourself, Jabari." Well... that was a surprise. She was beginning to flirt back, her tone teasing, almost a purr. It seemed as if Symphony was beginning to come out of her shell, slowly but surely. "Aha, I've been told that I have my moments, and that my charisma - along with my size - is one of the best aspects about me."
Jabari quirked a non-existant eyebrow playfully, and stretched out his front limbs again, making himself comfortable in the patch of elephant grass he was lying in. He could rather happily stay here for a while, in fine company and in the shade of the umbrella-shaped tree. It was all rather pleasant. Tan ears twitched at the sound of the females voice, and this time her tone was... a lot more hushed than normal, as if she was coming to a realization about something. This intruiged the large male, and he listened intently. ".. You understand. How is it that you appear to understand so much, Jabari? What is it about you that makes you so familiar?" He paused, thinking her comment through. Familiar? Understanding? This wasn't the first time he'd been called these things, but he never expected it to come... so abruptly. "They say wisdom comes with age... But I think I understand simply because our pasts are rather similar. Both of our families have been torn apart by complete strangers, who are reckless and care not about the consequences of their actions. They probably just care about making a mark in their lives, and the lives of those around them. I suppose... that's all anybody ever wants to do, isn't it? Or so I assume. Although, we aren't all robots, nobody's exactly alike to one another." | |

- The lighter-pelted female allowed her words to slip through before coming to a swift silence. Her vibrant ultramarine stare locked on his emotions to come, wondering if she had the right to make such a compliment on his being. But to her subtle relief, he appeared to accept it, much better than she had expected things to turn out. Perhaps there was no need for that wall she held - at least not the external layer. If this one truly cared to know her every fiber, it would most likely take time, but he could certainly take down the external walls she put up for those she rarely knew or didn't find the ability to "click" with. "Aha, I've been told that I have my moments, and that my charisma - along with my size - is one of the best aspects about me." Came his words, sending another essence of a smirk upon her face. She now decided that she would "toy" with the King - just because the literal female was often stoic did not mean she had no understanding of "fun". The dainty female reared her head back slightly as though a challenging mock finding its way into her body as a mere tension. Her voice however bubbled out with a threaten to become a mere chuckle, smooth and soft tones coming clean from the velvet hold on her lungs. "Oh? How peculiar. Was that you complimenting yourself, Jabari? That is rather unnecessary, don't you think?" She playfully sneered before allowing her head to tilt with a piqued curiosity. "How does that make you feel - to find that many believe those are your best aspects? Charisma and size - does that not make you wonder what they think of your other traits?" She curiously asked with a certain air of innocence. Perhaps she were somewhat glad many had not complimented the rare colors in her eyes back then - if they would find pleasure in merely her eyes, was the rest of her physically and mentally nothing but items to discard?

His words broke away her deepening thought just in time before she would become fully emerged - his words once more settling on her with a hidden truth. It was as though she always had complex thoughts and ideas in her perplexing mind, and he had the words to explain them. There was not much she could say then after he had covered her feelings, giving him a nod with a slight pause before speaking. "I suppose.. That would have to be the reason to explain it, because I don't find you at all to be "old", in the context as you use it." She bluntly replied without a change in her now-quieted voice.

Because if anything, she was a rather exciting feline to be around, and she always kept you second-guessing, as... in an odd way, she was rather unpredictable. "Oh? How peculiar. Was that you complimenting yourself, Jabari? That is rather unnecessary, don't you think?" |
She cocked her head in a mock-inquisitive manner. Oh, how coy Symphony had suddenly become, as if this side of her was suddenly a spur-of-the-moment. He'd never seen her 'mess around' before, she was normally so quiet and... well, philosophical, there was no other term to describe. "How does that make you feel - to find that many believe those are your best aspects? Charisma and size - does that not make you wonder what they think of your other traits?" He smirked. "Goodness, someone's found their coy side, haven't they? How... refreshing. And yes, why not? Complimenting yourself - although not in excess - is healthy for your mental wellbeing. Didn't you know?"The lion rose to his paws and sighed tiredly, his tail whipping around from side to side, flicking at any pesky flies that decided to plague him. Jabari paused for a moment, amber pools meeting with ultramarine, as he continued in their banter. "And is that a jab at me, my dear Symphony? That's uncharacteristic of you. And I'm sure they only mention my size and charisma as not only are they my most prominent traits, but also because the rest of me is so amazing that they are awestruck, and lost for words." He puffed out his chest-fur and smirked, and then pranced around the lioness in circles in a showy fashion, his head held high and a stupid grin slopped across his muzzle. Jabari felt like he'd known Symphony long enough to let down his barriers and.... well act like a fool in front of her. Perhaps he could even consider them more than acquaintances, maybe friends? That would, of course, be up to Symphony. He'd be able to tell when she felt fully relaxed around him though, as she would begin to mess around more with him. Although her sudden coy nature showed that she enjoyed his company, if anything. Suddenly turning to his female companion, he feigned a pout and his eyes glinted with mischeif, masked with mock hurt. "You're a bully, you know. Your jibes hurt me."[/blockquote]

SYMPHONY
- The yawns that kept insisting from the male had certainly caught Symphony's attention. Was he perhaps physically tired? Or maybe he were getting bored of her? Perhaps she weren't being "interesting" enough. It hadn't hurt whatever feelings she had under that complex shell, but had managed to fuel her forward even moreso to keep him from just up and leaving and returning to his previous duties. Her head merely twitched a little to the right as she watched his wide, awe-inspiring yawn. Her eyes almost seemed to be picking at him - narrowed calmly with a subtle smile as she merely watched and waited for his yawn to end and words begin. "Goodness, someone's found their coy side, haven't they? How... refreshing. And yes, why not? Complimenting yourself - although not in excess - is healthy for your mental wellbeing. Didn't you know?" His reply sent her in a complex state of thought unfortunately, freezing up and averting her gaze thoughtfully. "Complimenting oneself.." She repeated before looking back at Jabari with that same taunting gaze. "I suppose it is a fine endeavor if you can't get anyone else to do it." Her smile grew devious with that, perhaps almost "proud" that she had found a different angle. Of course she were only teasing him - certainly he had many who complimented his aspects. Including her.
- The dainty lioness slightly reared away carefully as he rose up, watching the swift throws of his tail for a split second before meeting sight with his amber eyes aglow. "And is that a jab at me, my dear Symphony? That's uncharacteristic of you. And I'm sure they only mention my size and charisma as not only are they my most prominent traits, but also because the rest of me is so amazing that they are awestruck, and lost for words." His reply was rather amusing, bringing back that smirk of subtlety from the dainty lady as she lightly circled him around to his left flank. "Is that so? The most prominent traits? Why do you think they do not compliment your cleverness?" She asked with a half-tease. The question was more of an outloud and complex thought that she would naturally ask herself. Its symbol had been to show what her own feelings and thoughts would be like should many compliment mainly her figure and such. But she had not been complimented at all often, and so she perhaps lacked to realize it was always a "welcome" thing. Her expression of mocking faded slightly faded as she reared her neck back, watching the expression that now took over the male's features. His reply was simple, "You're a bully, you know. Your jibes hurt me." The reply had oddly enough brought her to a sort of deeper amusement. "I'm sorry, Jabari. You mustn't make it so easy for me." Her voice fell hushed and mocking of a sweet apology. She then pushed forward to her own surprise, roughly pressing her head against the right side of his neck where his mane grew full force in a silent "apology". After a moment of stillness she reared back with blank expression, vibrant eyes staring at him - growing curious of his reaction. -

I suppose it is a fine endeavor if you can't get anyone else to do it." The mockingly taunting expression on her face almost brought a grin to his chops, despite the 'sad' shake of his head and the attempt at a forlorn expression. "Again, with the cruel words. Why do you taunt me so, Symphony? I give you a home, protection, and this is how you repay me? Tsk tsk." He chuckled under his breath and took note of the change taking place above him. The sky was no longer shades of orange and blue, but streaks of purple could now be seen as the sun began to plunge towards the earth - at an almost painfully slow rate, of course, as it did every evening - and soon it would be nestling on the horizon, and night would be almost upon them. Not that Jabari minded, he spelt some of the day sleeping so he wasn't exactly tired now. Then again, not a lot had happened that particularly strained him. He'd woken up from a nap, wandered around for a bit, and then bumped into Symphony. Suffice to say, it had brightened his day up considerably.
Sweet dulcet tones broke the calm silence of the savannah a few moments after Jabari's own comment. "Is that so? The most prominent traits? Why do you think they do not compliment your cleverness?" She had a question for everything, the lioness did, and it certainly kept the King on his toes. Thank goodness this was only banter and was all meant to be rather relaxing and calm, if this was an interrogation, Jabari would surely fall short. Symphony had the uncanny ability of outwitting others at an alarmingly quick rate, and she was doing well against the male. "....I don't know. Why don't you ask them?" His voice took on a more 'I'm a victim' tone, melancholy and pondering, eyes droopy and lips pulled into a slight pout as he ducked his head and pretended to be torn up about it. Of course, he wasn't, and she knew he wasn't, but it was all part of the 'show'. Maybe taking this new angle - as she tended to do, trying to get at him from all sides - would throw her off a little? Perhaps, but he doubted it.
"I'm sorry, Jabari. You mustn't make it so easy for me." He looked up at her through his 'fringe' and smiled a little, but did not have time to comment in the slight chance in tone of her last comment as she abruptly leant forward and buried her head in his thick mane, rubbing against his neck. It earnt her a deep purr, and involuntarily the male lion's back arched a little, and for a moment an ear-splitting grin spread across the King's muzzle. When she pulled away, however, he suppressed a sigh and wiped the almost ecstatic expression from his face, replacing it with his usual one, a soft smile. Her show of affection was.... unexpected, to say the least, and Jabari sat there in silence for a few seconds, before finally uttering his thoughts.
"W-What was that for?"

SYMPHONY
- The dainty lioness' tail lashed about slightly with a sort of inner pleasure. She had found herself actually enjoying Jabari's company - something the typically-emotionless female did not expect herself to do. Surely he had always enjoyed conversations here and there, but to find one a certain degree of "fun" was.. Well it wasn't something she understood. "Again, with the cruel words. Why do you taunt me so, Symphony? I give you a home, protection, and this is how you repay me? Tsk tsk." His words seemed saddened, and yet poised with a chuckle to support their end. He was playing the game with her, she decided. It was good to know that he was such a good "sport" in that aspect. She felt no real restraint other than the ones on her further emotions. But even then around him she felt liberated. Symphony herself poised a look of sadness, displeasure finding her stoic face. "I am only being honest, Jabari. It is not my fault that I happen to be right all of the time." Her tone faked a sort of innocent sadness at the idea. Her ultramarine gaze searched the darkening, cooler-colored sky for a good while before the male would speak again, allowing the cooler winds to brush against her whiskers. The night especially was something she enjoyed - watching the stars and interstellar life despite the fact that it never seemed to move.
- "....I don't know. Why don't you ask them?" Came his question, sending her eyesight down to him once more. He seemed like a disdainful pup being scolded almost, shrinking back slightly with a look of sadness. Symphony tilted her head with calculation, eyes blinking swiftly and innocently Her face held a sort of childish blank innocence, watching him in a prolonged silence. Her tail began to lash out faster as she readied to speak, eyes narrowing with a bittersweet pleasure. "Because I believe I already know the answer." Her voice cleverly mimicked his own withdrawn sort, innocent smile driving up her tilted skull. She then came upon him, pressing against the side of his neck and lightly driving her head up and down. The warmness emanating off his mane and body kept her comfortable to some extent despite the colder climate that now fell upon them with the darker of day. Her eats poised against his chest, picking up the sound of his deep purring. She pulled away from him then, lightly sitting on her haunches and staring up at him as though an innocent waiting for his reaction. "W-What was that for?" Came his stutter, easily catching her ears despite their low uncertainty. She raised her posture up slightly, dainty smirk settled subtly on her face, signaling that playful banter once more "Oh, am not allowed to come into contact with the king? Do I bring some sort of displeasure?" She teased him, ultramarine eyes vibrantly sending out signs of a playful sneer.
