Seeing as his father had never viewed the lionesses in his pride as 'toys', or merely cub machines, he never referred to them as his harem, and in turn, Jabari would never do that either. True, there were only two lionesses in the pride, and one of them was his mother, but even as the number of females in his pride would increase - as it was bound to, over time, or so he hoped - he would never refer to them as a harem. He had a lot of respect for lionesses, and this was probably because his mother had raised him so well. She had been so patient with Adaki, and in turn she was patient with Foxtrot. For being such a feisty female, Jabari was surprised that Taabu had the patience of a saint.
A yawn forced itself from the male's jaws, and he rolled his shoulders back. Silently, he wondered to himself if there were any lionesses in the area, ones that would be interested in joining the pride. He wasn't aware of any other prides in the area, so any lone lionesses around looking for a home would probably be rather pleased to see him. All he could really do, he supposed, was wait and see. "Heh, I wonder how mother would react to yet more lionesses around. She hasn't even met Symphony yet. I'm sure secretly she'll be glad of the female company, even if she insists she prefers being around males." He chuckled under his breath, stretching himself out on the rock he had draped himself across hours before, when he'd awoken from his morning nap. Jabari supposed that if there were any other cats out there - lion or otherwise - they would come across him soon enough, and if they wanted him to see them, they would show themselves.

It had been several days since she last had anything decent to eat and unfortunately it was beginning to show. She took care of herself as well as she could but being on her own made her realize just how difficult it was to catch large enough prey to keep her hunger satisfied and her body conditioned to its full potential. To keep herself from the constant rumble in her stomach she made do with what she had and groomed her coat spotless until every highlight was illuminating against the sunlight through the gaps in the sparse tree above her… this would not do if she was to survive the heat of summer. Grudgingly she lifted her slight body from the cracking ground and forced herself to wade out into the blistering sun in hopes of catching some prey that had lulled themselves into a false sense of security under the shade.
She had wondered for little over half an hour when the unmistakeable scent of lion distaracted her and rooted her to the spot. She sniffed half curious, half fearful - lions were not renowned for the hospitality to lions and lionesses that didn’t belong and she was pretty certain that any lioness that she encountered now would tear her ear to tail. Thank the world, it was a male lion as the testosterone was the next big hit to her senses. Strangely enough the thought of a male lion didn’t bother her too much as the thought of a lioness because for some reason they were more than happy to have a female in their company… too happy sometimes. She wasn’t sure what made her do it buts she sidetracked to get a better look. She was not disappointed.
Above her lazing on a rock was perhaps one of the largest male lions she had seen. Her dark sandy pelt was just pale enough to conceal her from view but to her misfortune the wind was not in her favour and she could be smelled at any time. She inched closer and got a spectacular view of his teeth as he yawned. The young lioness tensed for a moment, feeling the breeze brush at her coat from behind. Her only choice now was to make herself known before he interpreted her voyeurism as an ambush. Nervously she stalked towards him with her head low and brushed her pelt against the heat of the rock, trying not to catch his eye out of respect.

[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,false][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://i998.photobucket.com/albums/af101/Siberia_North/jajamid.png]He hadn't smelt her until the breeze caused her scent to drift towards him.
She didn't smell of other lions, so he knew she was a lone female. And he pitied her a little, as what kind of lion chose to be solitary? Jabari assumed she had been wandering around and had only now found the Mabruke border. His amber gaze found her facade, and the lion smiled softly at her, to try and reassure her. Some lionesses felt intimidated around lions, especially lions of his size. But he didn't want her to feel scared around him. He peered over the edge of the rock as she brushed her hide against it, averting her gaze in respect. "Good afternoon!" His tone was jolly and friendly, and the smile of his face only brightened the atmosphere further. "Why so shy? I won't bite, I promise." A deep baritone chuckle rumbled from his chest and he stretched out his hind quarters, waiting to see if the female would say anything. Slowly, he rose to his paws and licked his lips, scanning the area. So, it was just the two of them.
His amber gaze found the young female again, and he noted that she was quite a bit younger than him, probably around half his age. Jay wondered to himself what she was doing without a pride, as most young females stayed with their family groups for a while. Unless, of course, she left them for a reason. But the tawny feline wouldn't pry, as it was none of his business. After all, perhaps this would be his lucky day, and she was searching for a home. And if that was the case, Jabari would be happy to oblidge and invite her to join the Mabruke. But to ask her about her current 'dwelling situation' right away, when he didn't even know her name, was quite hasty, wasn't it? It was a warm, lazy day, as were most days in the savannah, and Jabari felt a little drowzy and laid back, so why rush into something? He shook himself from his reverie and turned his attention back to her, the light breeze ruffling his large, thick, two-toned mane.
"My name is Jabari, by the way."
