"Woo!" Evelyn leaped into the air. She didn't know why, but the forest mad her happy. Being here made her want to jump, scream, roll, and play; and that's exactly what she was doing. She leaped into the air again, this time, landing on her side on rolling around. She stood up, her crystal white fur covered in leafs and twigs. Having no intention of shaking it all of, she dashed further into the forest.
She stopped went she reached a very large pine tree. "I bet I could climb this tree. Yes, I think I could. I bet I could. Yeah. I'm gunna try. Yeah!" She stood up on her hind legs, front paws on the tree. Using her back legs, she launched herself upwards. She went up at least a few feet before falling backwards, straight onto her back. "Well." She said, sitting up with more debris in her fur. "That didn't go the way I had planned..." She looked around. Hopefully nobody had been watching her. That would be embarrassing.
Half prancing, half skipping, and with her eyes closed, Evelyn wove her way through trees and bushed, collecting more leaves and stuff along the way. Today was a good day. She din't know why though. It was strange. To Evelyn, nearly everyday felt good and cheerful, but there was something different about today... she opened her eyes, stopping instantly in front of a bush. Her mood dropped instantly. She stared at the drab grey flowers. "These flowers are red, aren't they?" She asked, knowing nobody was there.

It had been a rough day for the young clouded leopard, what with her stomach being empty and she still having to take care of her mom. Okay, that was a lie, she didn't have to do what she was doing. She didn't have to not only stay by her mother constantly, but she also took care of the weak female that was always sick. Today the older female was feeling better though, and insisted Maria went off and rested for awhile, telling her if she didn't she would get sick herself. Maybe that was true.
Her head pounded, throbbed. Emerald eyes were shut tightly as she tried to cope with the pain, hoping soon it would go away. The young cat was laying on the beginning of a branch high in a tree, leaning against the trunk of it tiredly. She didn't know how long it had been since she let herself actually sit down and relax, but it was too long.
Strong legs layed limply over the branch, her head layed carefully against thne trunk of the tree. The position may seem odd to most, but to her, any position that didn't involve motion was comfortable. Don't get her wrong, she loved her mother and wanted to do this.. but she knew her mother was too sick, and that she would die soon. But that also just encouraged her to keep going, give her the most love she could. Life was hard..
And noisy. And surprising. A sudden jolt of weight aginst the tree she was in was enough to send the unsuspecting cat falling from her laxy position into the bushes surrounding the tall tree. A quiet groan escaped the feline's throat as she layed there on her back, staring up at the blue sky. "You just hate me, don't you.." She mumbled softly to herself, giving an exasperated sigh.
Rolling over onto her paws, the young clouded leopard forced herself up on shaky, tired legs and stumbled out of the bushes. Pain forced her to hold up her back right leg a bit, and she could only pray it was nothing serious. Quietly, Mari limped forward a few paces, lifting her head to see a white lioness walking from the area. Was that who had attacked the tree? Or, tried to climb it rather. Curious, Maria for once decided to speak up. "Hello? Miss?" She called, ears perked forward, nose twitching as she took in the female's scent. She was just curious, wanted to meet her.

"Hello? Miss?"
So there was someone here. Evelyn didn't look at who ever it was. Instead, she kept her attention on the grey flowers. "These flowers are red, aren't they?" She repeated. She had always wanted to see the color, and finding thing that could possibly be tore her spirit in half. She lied her ears flat against her head. "They just HAD to red! Red! Out of all the other colors they could have possibly been, they had to be red!" She growled, turning towards the newcomer. Evelyn stared at the cat. It was smaller than she was, and was grey with black spots. A deep growl rose in her throat. "Are you red too." She sat down, not taking her eyes of the cat.
"So, red feline." She said. "I'm Evelyn. What is your name?" Evelyn looked back to when she was with her family. She had been born to two normal colored lions, and had four normal colored brothers. Her parents treated her as something special, and never let her out of their sight. Her brother constantly teased and bothered her about her white fur. Ever since she was a small cub she had wanted to be free. She now had the freedom she wanted, but that was just one of her dreams. The color red teased and taunted her, just like her brothers did. It hid beneath a dull grey coating, making her think every single grey thing she came across was red.
Evelyn stood up and shook her entire body, trying to shake the thoughts of her past away. "I-" She stopped herself. She never thought about what she was going to say, she usually just said it. There was something about this cat that made her think."I... Your spots are pretty." She said.

At the female lioness' odd words, Maria tilted her head a bit to the left, one ear drooping down while she held the other up. Emerald hued eyes set on the flowers on a bush the lioness was staring at. It took her a minute to realize why she asked, and soon she smiled a bit. "Yes. Red is a pretty color." She said. Being who she was, she did her best to explain it. "Red is a vibrant color, a mixpute of pink and white. When they mix, they become red." She spoke softly, soothingly. She had a friend who had gone blind, and so had to explain things to her alot. Colors were easily, as long as she wasn't completely color-blind, which it didn't seem she was.
Another soft step closer, though her ears were quick to fly back against her skull as the larger female started yelling about the color. Offering another small smile Maria said, "It's good in it's own way. Think of it this way, you never have to really see blood. It's color is what gets me," She admitted, lowering her backside to the leafy ground below her with a light crunch of dried leaves. "I wish I couldn't see it." She had seen far too much of the color. Everything red in her eyes was tainted now-a-days, by the color she knew only how to associate with death. But that was no reason for this female to think that as well.
"Some people see blood as life.." Maria said quietly, thinking aloud to herself about the different views people had on the thick liquid. She looked back up and parted her jaws to speak, but found herself interupted by accusing words, asking if she was red too. "Red? My dear, no. We felines don't have such pelt colors." She said, smiling lightly in amusement. She easily took into consideration why she thought that though asnd continued. "This is my natural color. Tans, greys, whites and blacks, you see." She said, lifting a paw and gesturing to herself as best she could.
She introduced herself, then asked of the clouded leopard's name, who smiled once more. Just because she was sad didn't mean other people had to be, so she always kept smiling. "A beautiful name, Evelyn. My name is Maria, but you can call me Mari. My mother calls me Mari, still." She way the cat spoke was rather odd for an animal not even two years of age yet, sometimes people had to ask her age twice.
When the lioness complimented Maria's spots, a slight blush tinted thje female's pale skin. "I thank you, Evelyn." She said, smiling kindly. "You have a beautiful coat yourself. White is a nice color, very simple, yet it can hide the most extravagant of things. I'm sure it's hiding your wonderful personality behind an odd mask." She said, her tail flicking lightly. She was naturally this kind to people, doing her best to make them comfortable and to make sure they didn't get upset. Afterall, there was no need for that.

"One would think, when you mix pink and white, you would get a lighter pink.." She said. She carefully listen to the cat's words. Evelyn had never thought of that. While some thought of red as the color of death, she usually thought of grey. "When you put it that way, it sounds like a horrible color.." She said, slightly tilting her head.
Evelyn listen as the feline explained herself. "You.. aren't red? Oh, dear. I'm sorry I yelled at you. It's just like me to jump into false conclusions.." Saying things without thinking them through sometimes got her into a bit of trouble. She's accused many grey cats of being red, only to leave before they had a chance to explain themselves. She wished she could go back and apologize to all those cats...
"Thank you, Maria." She said. "My mother and father sometimes called me Eve." She purred, giving a small smile. "You can too, if you want."
She watched Maria as she spoke some more. Evelyn gave a large smile when she complimented her coat. Almost nobody had ever say anything good about her coat. "Thank you Mari! You don't know how long it's been since I got a compliment on my fur... Not since I ran away from my family-" She cut herself off. Surely her new friend didn't want to heard the depressing story of her life? Instead of finishing the first sentence, she started another. "I've never really stayed in one place long enough for someone to get a full taste of who I am. I have duel personalities that are constantly battling each other. You've seen. I was just shouting at you..."
